The Days for Girls Introduction.

Who Is Days for Girls Eswatini & What Do We Do?

Days for Girls Eswatini (DfG) is a registered non-profit organisation that focuses on Menstrual Health (MH) and works to eliminate the stigma and limitations associated with menstruation for improved health, education and livelihoods. DfG breaks poverty cycles by restoring days of dignity through the provision of holistic menstrual health education, sustainable feminine hygiene solutions and income generation opportunities. Our vision is to create a world with dignity, health, and opportunity for all.

Core areas:

  1. Health Education

Knowledge is powerespecially when it comes to menstruationAccess to timely, accurate health information is critical to shattering the stigma around menstruation and building a more equitable world. DfG has its own curriculum which entails numerous topics such as puberty, self-defence, safety and menarche, tackling the questions on why and how Menstruation happens? And why it should be celebrated? Education increases awareness, which results to the appropriate menstrual hygiene practices that prevent infections, reduces odors and increases self-esteem of the menstruator.

  1.  Menstrual Solutions

We make viable, cost effective, and culturally appropriate reusable, washable menstrual pads locally. DfG is a pioneer for eco-friendly reusable sanitary pads in Eswatini. The organization hires women Swazi sewers across the country as a way of empowerment to fabricate reusable sanitary pads by following the World Health Product requirement guidelines for a safe to use, reliable and durable re-usable and washable sanitary pad. The pads are then sold to the public and the money is then used in funding sanitary pads distributions, accompanied by accurate Menstrual Health Education to in-school girls and communities in Eswatini.

  1. Advocacy

Our advocacy supports local leaders with the tools and resources necessary to advance campaigns that promote menstrual equity and reduce shame and stigma. To create meaningful impact that lasts, Days for Girls pursues advocacy work that shifts social norms and creates more supportive policy environments for menstruator nationwide. From campaigning and capacity-building to cultivating strategic partnerships, our advocacy efforts are critical to shifting the menstrual health space in a way that stands the test of time. We take on an advocacy effort to change local, state and federal policies in order to make these products more affordable and accessible to all women.
