Meet Phiwayinnkosi, A Girl That is not Stopped by Her Days.



       

Phiwayinkosi Gama is a vibrant and intelligent young lady from Mbabane, Eswatini. She joined Days for Girls Eswatini as an Ambassador of Women's health (AWH) in 2019. Since then, she has empowered women and girls with accurate menstrual health education. This gives girls confidence and encourages them to make safe and informed menstrual health decisions when they reach menarche.  According to Phiwayinkosi, she loves being an AWH because it is an opportunity to give young girls "the period talk" she wished she could have gotten when she started her period. 

                                                                                    

DfG enhances livelihoods for women and girls, today, Phiwayinkosi is a business owner of not one but two businesses in her community. She runs a salon, and restaurant. She too has been able to enhance livelihood by providing employment for the youth through her businesses. Phiwayinkosi is a skyscraper, a leader and is not stopped by her days. We at DfG love to girls thrive.

We continue to take on market spaces by bringing Menstrual Health (MH) education and the DfG washable pad to the people. Our Goal is to take action towards raising MH awareness in efforts to put MH on the agenda. Period Poverty Enforcing Gender Based Violence.

 (Puleng Sithebe DfG Ambassador) Days for Girls Eswatini (DfG) was honoured to present on how period poverty enforces gender-based violence and gender inequality at the One Billion Rising Eswatini GBV awareness event. Puleng Sithebe (Days for Girls Ambassador) took on the stage to share powerful insights on the effects of period poverty. She further urged the Eswatini government to recognize period poverty as a critical public health issue, as this would be a significant step towards ending gender inequality and gender-based violence.
